The difference between who you are and who you want to be is what you do

Food is the component that largely determines whether we are gaining or losing weight. The key to losing weight is focusing on eating of the foods that promote weight loss. Once you know the nutritional differences between processed and whole foods, you have a choice.
Every journey begins with a single step, but you will never finish if you don’t start. Once you make the first step everything else becomes easier; but it is important to make that step otherwise you cannot expect to finish something you did not start.
Make the first step today and start making these changes now. Stop waiting for the right time to start losing weight; it never comes. There is no reason you can't begin your weight loss journey right here, right now. No more excuses! Don't wait for the "right time". Do it now. Take advantage of the motivation you're feeling now and start making these changes now.
I learned that one should not wait to for a best movement to start losing weight. My experience is that there is never a “best moment” to start losing weight. Most people will just keep thinking about making changes. Thinking about change and talking about change doesn't make a difference. You need to get to the execution phrase. Action is what produces change.

The difference between who you are and who you want to be is what you do.

  1. A study published in the April 2012 issue of the Journal of the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics found 4 key behaviors the helped individuals keep the weight off while others regained.

    1. Regular Weigh-Ins – By stepping on the scale on a regular basis, any weight gain will be noticed immediately and can be nipped in the bud before it gets out of control. Schedule weigh-ins at the same time each day, preferably in the morning
    2. Consistency – Once goal weight has been achieved, continue your healthy routine. Individuals who fall back into their old habits tend to gain the weight back. Portion control, exercise, weigh-ins, and journaling are some of the keys to successfully maintaining a healthy weight.
    3. Planning – Knowing and planning for potential challenges, temptations, and barriers before they occur can help you stay on track.
    4. Positive Reinforcement – There are many ways to keep your mind and body feeling upbeat and motivated. Take note of positive stories or inspirational quotes. Keep them in a journal or post them somewhere prevalent to remind you of the good feelings.

    1. Sandra, what do you do when the number on the scale remain the same?

    2. I agree, Sandra. A lot of weigh-ins and planning will help you stick to your weight-loss goal. And always talk to your doctor. They may have an even better, realistic suggestion.

  2. I like the “take action” point that you make here. There are many people reading and searching about weight loss, but they actually never start a diet or start exercising leaving it all for another day. That’s way many people are searching for magic pills that can take the burden of taking action away from them, but unfortunately no such thing exists.

  3. The first goal should be to say no to the junk food.

  5. Thank you for the motivation I needed. It's time for me to be as strong as I know I can be, and get these bad habits under control. I am feeling very positive and determined to make July the best month of the year so far.

  6. Losing weight should not be perceived as an ultimate goal in our lifestyles, it should be the overall health, rather, to which the weight loss may lead.

I more and more often get this impression that the obesity and weight loss are being prioritized the cost of our health and wellbeing. Quite a slippery ground

  7. Healthy eating can be achieved by learning some nutrition basics and using them in a way that works for you. Think about planning a healthy diet as a number of small, manageable steps rather than one big drastic change. If you succeed in planning your diet around fiber-rich fruits, vegetables, whole grains, lean protein, and good fats, you may find yourself naturally cutting back on foods that can get in the way of your healthy diet—sugar and salt. Healthy eating habits can be learned. The goal of healthy eating is to develop a diet that you can maintain for life, not just a few weeks or months, or until you've hit your ideal weight. If you approach the changes gradually and with commitment, you will have a healthy diet sooner than you think.

  8. I think the best way to start your diet off right is to be sure you treat yourself. My sister was a Jenny Craig consultant for years, and the most successful clients made sure to "give in" on small things. It's better to treat your small cravings than to indulge on a million other little things to make up for it. -Anne

  9. You could have stopped this post at the title alone, it says everything it has to. People just need to add some motivation to that and they can lose all the weight they want.
