People who
lose weight rapidly at the beginning are so motivated by their results, not
only do they stick to the diet better, but more important, they keep the weight
off longer.
2006, I lose 48 lbs slowly over two years. Everyone tells me that this is the best way. HA! I was so burned out by the time I got there, and I gained hand over foot when I ate normally again. I suspect losing slowly does slow your metabolism.
This time I lost 55 lbs in 6 months. It was so amazing losing at least 1 lb every week. Never did I gain. I never cheated. I never wanted to cheat. I am now maintaining and my discipline there is amazing as well. Because I did it so quickly my discipline is not depleted. It feels like I haven't even been on a diet. The motivation is still surging through me. It makes no sense at all to lose weight slowly.

I know how tempting diet crazes can sound, especially if you have a lot of weight to lose. You hear about stars who did it and look incredible.
